One step at a time

So I bought a pair of Toms and I'm in love with them.

Quite possibly the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.
Seriously.

Not too long ago was the 'One day without Shoes', where (just like it sounds) the founder of Toms encouraged people to go a day with out shoes, to know what it's like for all the beautiful children in third world countries that don't have any shoes.
I had to work, so it would have been totally gross and illegal if I went with out shoes. So I sat back an admired those who got to walk around town barefoot.
Although, sadly I didn't actually see anyone.

(here's my Toms)

Why I love Toms: I actually bought two pairs of Toms the other day. One for me, and one for a child who doesn't have any shoes. How stinking cool is that? Toms gives away a pair of shoes to a child in need every time you buy a pair.

Wouldn't it be great if every place did that? What a great excuse to go shopping! :)

Say it with me friends: it's called Goodwill.

I've been really humbled this week...by a pair of shoes. As weird as that sounds.
I believe in the little steps. The little things that makes God really proud of us. A great blog has come up with the most wonderful idea: The Difference Project. It's super inspiring, so go check it out.

All these Toms and great ideas have got me thinking: we have to start doing more. Each one of us...not just a group but all of us. Maybe it starts with Toms then moves on to:

Because when we do this, we really get it.

Simplify. That will be my word for the next couple of months. What I don't need, I wont buy. What I already have, I wont buy in a different color cause it fits me so well. I'm working up to the Difference project...but God knows I'm not perfect, so I wont try to be.

Day 18: Describe your personality.

I hope and pray that when people talk about me, they think I have a great personality. Because that's what I think :) I like to think I'm out going most days, and am usually super cheery. I do have bad days, but the lights always shining. My glass is half full, and I love to smile. I'm giving. And would do just about anything for a friend, or someone in need. I'm humble, and gracious to my Savior for all He's given me. I have faults in my personality...sometimes I take things way to serious...and, well personal. I'm really proud of myself, and don't ever put myself down.

Such a busy weekend, and Saturday is almost done! Hope you're having a wonderful Saturday!

I did one Day without Shoes! Only I was off so I didn't really go anywhere, but I wish I had so it would have been more of a sacrifice. I'm trying to do the same thing with simplifying, because I am raising money for this little girl and I want to give her everything I have! I think you have a fabulous personality. You are so sweet and I'm so glad to call you a friend!

I've been meaning to buy a pair...hmm. May have to do that soon.

I work at a school and the kids tried to go without shoes, but we can't let them because it's against the health code AND it's a safety issue. Good for them though, for trying.
