new things.

i have to be honest and tell you that i haven't had the craziest of days, and that's why i haven't blogged.

my schedule has been clear and free, and i've had the time to blog.
i just didn't.

most days have just went by and i haven't even thought about it.
i've been keeping up with you all though! reading and commenting more and more.

but this little space.

it's been neglected.

and i'm kinda sorry about that.

i've been thinking a lot lately about this blog and my photography blog, and how sometimes i feel like i'm not doing a good job at all of making them the same. or like each other?

i met up with the so wonderful kristyn of milk + crown yesterday and had such a great conversation about life and blogging and friendships.
and will blog about that soon.
but i asked her opinion on having this blog, and then my photography site.

much like me, she's started this small business of jewelry making (which is beautiful, please go look now) and said urged me to make them one.

she's not the first one to give me this advice.

and so.
starting august 1.
beautiful moments will be no more.
you can find me over here full time.

i think it's important that people who want to book me know me. i think it's important that all my bloggy friends support (as they already do so much) that area of my life.

is any of this making sense?
in my brain it does.

so here's to new things.
happy wednesday.

ask and receive

hi my name is megan, and i have no patience.

if there isn't a recovery group yet, i'll start one. my dad and i can be the first members.
is patience genetic?

i'm in this quiet season.
a season i have prayed for over and over again for years.
to not be busy.
to not have a schedule that's jam packed.

and it's finally here!

and i hate it.

i feel like i waste some days doing absolutely nothing.
which is exactly what i had prayed about.

anyone who doesn't think God answers prayers can speak to me.
because here i am. in this answered prayer. and i'm already praying a new one.

the Lord has a sense of humor, this i know.
He knew that the minute He'd answer that prayer of mine, i'd be begging for a new one.

correct He is.
yoda?
i'm in a very exciting season too. building up a photography business is exciting.
and also...if i can be so honest, terrible at times.
it's hard.
this doesn't happen over night. it takes so much work and studying. some people, as nice as they may seem on their blogs just aren't willing to help other out. and that makes life hard.

and somedays. somedays i cry and think i'm doing something totally stupid and it's not what i'm called to do.

"that's a lie straight from satan and you can not believe it megan"
words spoken from the hubs this past weekend when i had one of my megan-meltdowns-about-photography.

one day. i'll write an honest post about how hard starting a photography business is.
once i make it.

{via}

i get that this is what i prayed for. i asked for this season of quiet. of no job. of being able to spend the day in my pjs because i have no where to go.

but my heart just isn't in it.
and that's where i'm stuck.

Jesus promises that He won't ever put us through anything that He can't get us out of. or that we can't handle.
so here i am. in this season i wanted, praying for a new one. all the while, He's smiling down reminding me that someday i'll understand.

i'll understand why i'm not booking clients right and left.
i'll understand why i'm feeling defeated.

i'm clinging right now to His promises.

the promise that there is something ahead for me that is greater than anything i can ever imagine.
the promise that He's with me right now. in this tough learning season. cheering me on.
the promise that i have to trust His ways.

i'm praying that right now, if there's anyone else in the season, we can chat. because i know i can't be alone. there's so much ahead.

i just have to learn to be patient with the Lord.

so here i go. off to enjoy the quiet.

happy monday.

friday favorites

there are some days that my brain just can not get out the right words.
i sit down to type and it's like i've never blogged a day in my life.
anyone else like that?

thankfully, i've read some incredible posts this week that have brought all my mushed words to life.

beth moore is one of my favorites. my absolute favorites. and in this post she's talking about revival.
"scar our hearts with Your cross and love through us, Lord."
it's long, but please make sure to finish it.

carrie wrote about being lost in translation. a post i am pretty sure i could have wrote. i am so thankful for this blogging community and being able to have people so wonderful to relate too.

ann voskamp's sweet words soothe my soul.
"you are doing something great with your life- when you're doing all the small things with His great love."

chelsea posted a picture of her dog, so she had me there. but also her words on freedom and how much we have to celebrate made my heart happy.

what posts did you love this week?

30 in 30

hello sweet friends.

per usual, i'm a day late on the whole "holy crap it's july 1 where the heck did the first half of 2013 go?"

but seriously, how is 2013 half way over. the back end. last half. i don't mean to put you bucket listers in a panic, but technically you should be 1/2 through your 2013 to-do list. i think i made one, but i'm terrible at them. i do however have a list of things to get done this summer, and before i turn TWENTY FIVE in december.
and i haven't crossed off a single one.

#mylife.
yea. that just happened.

ok so.

i just finished reading R E F R E S H. and i have to force myself to let it simmer before i go back for round two. yes, it is that good.

while the Lord is doing some serious work in my life, some seriously needed work, i'm first going to tell you about the "outside" refreshing i'm doing.

in the ebook, hayley talks about refreshing the wardrobe. something i seriously dread. because it's quite possible i could be put on hoarders for my clothes.
i keep everything.
things that don't fit.
things out of style.
things just because they were a gift.

but i still stand there for 20 minutes complaining i have nothing to wear.

{from the ebook}

she also goes on to give a sort of challenge.
pick 30 pieces of clothing and only wear those for 30 days.

and it was like a light bulb went off in my head.

challenge accepted.

yes. i know it's the second.
yesterday before i knew it, it was 3pm and i had so much running around to do that morning that i never changed out of my work out clothes.
real life people.

but nonetheless, here i go.

30 pieces. 30 days.

of course you can mix and match, and no i'm not counting workout clothes or jammies.

or shoes.

duh.

and here they are. taking up the smallest part of my closet. my favorite 30.
two pairs of jeans.
two pairs of shorts.
two skirts.
four dresses.
and twenty shirts. t-shirts, dress shirts, tank tops.

i'm so excited for this.
it's this whole being simple thing that i love the most. what's the point of having all those clothes when you don't wear half?

i will try my hardest, to get a picture every day of an outfit to report back.
i can make no promises but i will try.

if you haven't checked out the ebook, make sure to do so!

happy tuesday friends.

like a new born

i just finished reading the she reads truth 1 peter plan and while i'm still letting most of it sink in, one verse really stuck out at me.

there's just so much, don't you think?

our words carry a lot of weight. they can pull up or push so hard to the ground that it's difficult, if not impossible sometimes to get back up. i'm feeling those effects lately, and to be honest, i'm on both sides.  pushing and trying to get back up.

this verse reminds me of God's grace.
i've tasted God (and continue too).
i almost feel like peter is saying, "yo, you know better than to act like this." he might have even been shaking his hand at me while he wrote it.

i know better.

make a clean sweep.
i'm also currently reading R E F R E S H,  an incredible book by two incredible women, and i'm only on the third chapter and have started to make a clean sweep in my life. everything from what i wear, to what i eat, how my day goes.
i'm making a clean sweep.
and even right now, as i type this, i'm so amazed at how God is bringing this all together.

sometimes we've got to just take a moment, get refreshed and make a clean sweep of our lives.
clean it up.
say your sorry.
move on.
let it go.
give it to God.
be quiet.
eat better.
dress well.
take care of yourself.

and most importantly, like an infant at the breast, cling to God's goodness.

i thought about that part of the verse for a while. because at first, it made me giggle. like an infant? at the breast? couldn't he have thought of a better analogy?
some versions say "crave pure spiritual milk".

i'm not a mother.
but my niece will be THREE on saturday (seriously, where does the time go) and looking back on pictures of her first day on earth. i think i get it.

{my pretty sissy and her adorable new baby girl}

reagan's screamed subside when she ate (or slept).
she was crying out for her mommy.

reagan clung to amanda.
and still does.

she needs her to survive.

every child needs their mother to survive.

i need my Father to survive.
i'm trying to gulp down that spiritual milk.
i'm screaming for God to give me spiritual guidance.
to give me grace.
to show me mercy.

and only, when i spend time in His presence, when i can feel Him close to me, do i stop.

i can feel His goodness.
i don't ever want to stop crying out though, because i don't ever want enough of God.
and i don't ever want to stop feeling refreshed.
sometimes life just gets to be a lot. and there's only One to turn to.

He is all we need.
like a newborn clinging to their mother.
i'm clinging to Him.

becoming refreshed.
depending on Him.
