it's a simple summer read that you won't even think about putting down unless you absolutely have to.
I found the book beyond inspiring, and it had me putting it down more than once thanking God for this amazingly blessed life I get to live. because can you even imagine being an african american living in jackson, mississippi in 1962? some of the book had me in tears, and some of the book had me smiling so big sonny was wondering what the deal was.
isn't that the point of a good novel?
the past couple of months I've been really {really} thinking about writing a book. like seriously thinking about it. praying about it. did I mention I was serious about this?
it's scary though...because no, I'm not the best writer. shocker I know. and in fact I could list 10 other blogs of women who I think blow the top of of writing.
but I love it.
and that's another point right?
I finished the book and read a little article from the author. she basically tells you that although the book is made up, it's loosely based on her life as a child. and then at the end...my favorite part:
Kathryn Stockett was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. After graduating from the University of Alabama with a degree in English and creative writing, she moved to NYC, where she worked in magazine publishing and marketing for 16 years.
She currently lives in Atlanta with her husband and daughter.
This is her first novel.
she was an english and creative writing major...I'm an english and creative writing major.
anyone else getting the light bulb going off?
do you ever have those times you feel like God is just sitting next to you yelling: "I can't make this any clearer to you!"
okie dokie Lord. I hear ya.
and did we all catch that this was her first novel?
maybe this book won't inspire you to go write a book. maybe you'll just be so overwhelmed with the 'goodness' through out the book. maybe you'll latch on to Skeeter who's a doll and you wish you could have coffee to talk about what she did. and hopefully, you'll be so overwhelemed with how awesome your own life is you just have to praise God.
be blessed today beautiful!
