day 23 {honesty}

Ephesians 4:25
What this adds up to, then, is this: no more lies, no more pretenses. Tell your neighbor the truth. In Christ's body we're all connected to each other, after all. When you lie to others, you end up lying to yourself.

small groups to me, have always been really important. i was in a one in high school, then again just a few years ago, and now i'm trying to get one going again.

but it's scary.

a lot of times, i think, we enter into small groups with these mentalities that we're going to make great new best friends, share some laughs, maybe some tears, and study God together.
but oh goodness is it so much more.

yes it starts with making new friendships. and yes, with out God it wouldn't be possible.
then we have to factor in honesty. and that's where things get pretty messy.

i've found (even myself at times) to either exaggerate a story to make it sound like i'm the one in the group that's done "the worst", or at times, i've kept my mouth shut so tight because i was afraid to share what i had been through in fear of being judge.

and then theres the really messy groups that lie to each other.

for those of you who have emailed me about the bible study i am so overwhelmed by how amazing you all are! and i can not wait to this with you.

but i'm scared.

it's not that i think we're all going to be best friends for the rest of our lives (but i AM praying for so many great friendships to be formed), but i just don't want this small group to end up like the rest.

a small group is the body of Christ.
each member brings their own piece of the body to share. each person brings their own gifts to share with the other members.
but sometimes the evil one gets the best of us.

so here's what i'm praying for.
obviously God to move.
but then, honesty.

it's scary entering into a group of women who you don't know. but if we're going to expect God to do big things then we have to open our hearts and be honest.

challenge: if you're not in a small group/bible study find one. if you cant seem to find the time, think about joining the online bible study i'm starting. email me if you're interested:

God we know that being honest with each other is a scary thing. but we know that with your strength we can be there for one another God, we are sisters in Christ Lord and i pray that we all know that no matter what we've done we love each other! i'm praying you MOVE in this bible study God! move so much that we can't even try to ignore You!

bible study girls! look out for an email by wednesday with all the info! almost done with the details!

As scary as it may be to open up entirely to girls you have never met before (trust me, I share this same fear with you) ... it's all for a good cause. You never know the types of friendships that can be formed out of this. And, well, if some don't form as well as others? ... it's clearly meant to happen that way. It's a learning experience, you know?

Again, I am so excited for this study, and am looking forward to meeting some of the other ladies :)
