get moving megan

so this is the camera i have:

{nikon d40 with 18-55mm lens}

oh and i have this lens too:

{55-200 mm lens}

and yet sadly they both sit begging me for attention.

that all ends now!

thanks to a a sweet blogger friend, i'm now going to put my mouth where my camera is...or something.

the truth is, there are a lot of photographers in this world. a lot of really really good ones. ones that just seem to 'have an eye'. something my mom has been telling me i have for a year now, but i've always been so intimidated. and then this morning when i was blog hopping, i found out that a beautiful woman photographer has the same equipment as i do. and her pictures are stunning. absolutely stunning.

so i self wallowed for 5 minutes, and then told myself to get over...myself.

it's amazing what a little bit of jealousy can do for a person.

i have a lot of work to do. and a lot of learning about my camera and lenses. but i need to start doing this right or sell the thing. because it isn't fair. i love taking pictures, but i don't give it enough time. i need to remind myself that i'm not just going to get this good. it takes practice, and a lot of patience.

so i'm embarking on a photo challenge.

i'm really excited to learn. maybe that's because school just started, but nonetheless.

so day 1: self-portrait

{you've seen 100 pictures of me already. i really liked that you could see through my shades}

i went over to the beach to get my butt going and came up with these too:

{this hangs on my mirror in my car}

so here goes nothing. it's possible i wont ever be that good. and i'm ok with that. i just need to try first.

hope you're having a great week!

First I read your comment on my post, then I read your blog. Girl, you will do "this good" and better! It does take time, mostly just learning the ins and outs of your camera and lenses. Read up as much about it as you possibly could. Start learning those buttons and have fun with the shots you set up. :) I think you'll do just marvelous!

I totally know that feeling. I get photo envy when I stumble onto blogs. But, it's okay! We're capturing memories all the same (and we're not half bad!)

practice practice practice! that's why i started my project 52 - to force myself to get out and start using my camera. i'm excited to see all the photos you come up with as you work through your challenge! & don't beat yourself up - i know you will make a fantastic photographer!
